About Us:
Carlynton Aqua Club (CAC) is a developmental swim club for youth, ages 4-18. CAC competes in the WCPSL (Western Central Pennsylvania Swim League) from October - March. The WCPSL is similar to a YMCA league featuring 10 teams from the Greater Pittsburgh Area. At CAC, we’re focused on teaching the values of dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship, and setting and reaching goals in a positive, constructive, family-friendly atmosphere. We understand that different athletes have different goals and ability levels. Our club offers a variety of programs to accommodate beginners as well as experienced competitive swimmers.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Swim Coach to join our team for the upcoming 2026 - 2027 swim season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for swimming and coaching, helping to develop swimmers of all skill levels while fostering a positive and competitive environment. This role will support the Lead Assistant and Head Coaches in practice planning, technique instruction, competition planning, and coaching athletes at competitions. Practices are conducted Monday through Friday from 6:15 - 8:30pm from mid September through mid April. Swim meets are typically Saturday mornings (~2 per month) from 7:00am - 2pm with occasional afternoon meets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and leading swim practices (M-F 5:30-8:30), focusing on technique, endurance, and overall athlete development from October > March.
- Provide individualized feedback to swimmers to enhance their performance
- Support the Head Coach and Lead Assistant in developing training programs tailored to various skill levels
- Ensure a safe and positive training environment by enforcing pool safety protocols
- Assist in coordinating and attending swim meets, including athlete check-in, warm-ups, and race strategies
- Foster a team-oriented culture that encourages sportsmanship, discipline, kindness, and hard work
- Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff
- Conduct swim lessons for youth ages 2-12
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience preferred, but strong competitive swimming experience will be considered
- Knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and stroke mechanics
- CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
